Included in the SpeechMike software installation is the automatic installation of device drivers. If there are problems in the driver installation during setup follow these steps for manual installation of the device drivers. Manual installation of drivers for Windows NT 4.0 ================================================= Installation of the SpeechMike drivers (Psp6174) 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "Multimedia" icon. 3. Select the "Devices" tab and click "Add". 4. Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" and click "OK". Enter the path to your "CDROM drive"\DriverNT\Psp6174 folder. 5. Click "OK". 6. Restart your computer. Installation of the ACM and MCI drivers 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "Multimedia" icon. 3. Select the "Devices" tab and click "Add". 4. Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" and click "OK". Enter the path to your "CDROM drive"\DriverNT\ "drivername" folder. 5. Click "OK". 6. If you receive a message prompting you to restart the computer, click "No". 7. Repeat steps 3 - 6 until all required drivers are installed. 8. Restart your computer. Manual installation of drivers for Windows 9x, Windows Me ========================================================= Installation of the SpeechMike drivers (Psp6174) 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "Add New Hardware" icon. 3. Click "Next" and select "No" to skip the automatic hardware detection. 4. Click "Next". 5. Select "Mouse" and click "Next". 6. Click "Have Disk". 7. Click "Browse" and change to your "CDROM drive"\Driver9x\Psp6174 folder. 8. Select the *.inf file and click "OK", "OK", "OK", "Finish". 9. Restart your computer. Installation of the drivers for the following devices (only for Windows 98 SE, Windows Me): SpeechMike Classic USB - international edition (Psp6264/00), SpeechMike Classic USB - American edition (Psp6264/52), SpeechMike Pro USB (Psp6274), SpeechMike Pro USB Barcode Scanner (Psp6284) 1. Plug the SpeechMike into the USB port. 2. After Found New Hardware the Add New Hardware wizard appears with "This wizard searches for new drivers for: USB Composite Device". Click Next. 3. Click Next while the default option is selected : "Search for the best drivers for your device." 4. Check "Specify a location" with the windows\inf directory and uncheck other fields. Click Next. 5. Windows will first find the USB.INF file. Click Next 6. If there are any system files missing the wizard requires to insert the Win98SE CD. Browse to the Setup\win98 subdirectory and click Ok. 7. After successful installation of this device click Finish. 8. Repeat steps 2 - 7 until all USB devices are correctly installed. (2 USB HID and 2 USB Audio Devices). Installation of the ACM and MCI drivers 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "Add New Hardware" icon. 3. Click "Next" and select "No" to skip the automatic hardware detection. 4. Click "Next". 5. Select "Sound, video and game controllers" and click "Next". 6. Click "Have Disk". Click "Browse" and change to your "CDROM drive"\Driver9x\"drivername" folder. 7. Select the *.inf file and click "OK", "OK", "OK", "Finish". 8. If you receive a message prompting you to restart the computer, click "No". 9. Repeat steps 3 - 6 until all required drivers are installed. 10. Restart your computer. Manual installation of drivers for Windows 2000, Windows XP =========================================================== Installation of the SpeechMike drivers (Psp6174) 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "Add/Remove Hardware" icon. 3. Click "Next" to skip the Welcome dialog. 4. Select "Add/Troubleshoot a device" and click "Next". 5. Windows searches for new devices in the "New Hardware Detection" window: - If you have your SpeechMike connected to your computer and install it for the first time, the system will detect a "Standard Serial Mouse" and install a driver for it automatically. To upgrade to the SpeechMike drivers see "Update from Standard Serial Mouse to SpeechMike drivers in Windows 2000/ Windows XP". - If your SpeechMike is connected to your computer and has already been installed, the system will detect the SpeechMike and install its drivers automatically. 6. The "Completing Add/Remove Device Driver Wizard" window appears. Click "Finish". Upgrade from Standard Serial Mouse to SpeechMike drivers in Windows 2000 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "System" icon. 3. Select the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Manager". 4. Select "Mice and other pointing devices". A Standard Serial Mouse will be listed. Double-click it to open the "Properties" dialog box. 5. Select the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver". 6. In the "Upgrade Device Driver" wizard, click "Next" to skip the Welcome dialog. 7. In the "Install Hardware Device Drivers" window select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click "Next". 8. In the "Locate Driver Files" window select only the "Specify a location" option and click "Next". 9. Change the path to the folder containing the SpeechMike driver files and click "Open". 10. In the "Driver Files Search Results" window click "Next". 11. In the "Completing Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" window click "Finish". Upgrade from Standard Serial Mouse to SpeechMike drivers in Windows XP 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "System" icon. 3. Select the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Manager". 4. Select "Mice and other pointing devices". A Standard Serial Mouse will be listed. Double-click it to open the "Properties" dialog box. 5. Select the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver". 6. In the "Hardware Update Wizard " window select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click "Next". 7. In the "Please choose your search and installation options" window select only the "Include this location in the search" check box and browse to the folder containing the SpeechMike driver files and click "Next". 8. In the "Completing Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" window click "Finish". Installation of the drivers for the following devices: SpeechMike Classic USB - international edition (Psp6264/00), SpeechMike Classic USB - American edition (Psp6264/52), SpeechMike Pro USB (Psp6274), SpeechMike Pro USB Barcode Scanner (Psp6284) The microphones of the SpeechMike Pro USB range and the SpeechMike Classic USB range do not require a manual driver installation. You only have to plug the device into the USB port and the system will install the drivers automatically. Installation of the ACM and MCI drivers 1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click the "Add/Remove Hardware" icon. 3. Click "Next" to skip the Welcome dialog. 4. Select "Add/Troubleshoot a device" and click "Next". 5. Windows 2000 searches for new devices in the "New Hardware Detection" window. 6. The "Choose Hardware Device" window appears. Select "Add a new device" and click "Next". 7. In the "Find New Hardware" window, select "No, I want to select the Hardware from a list" and click "Next". 8. In the "Hardware Type" window, select "Sound, video and game controllers" and click "Next". 9. In the "Select a Device Driver" window, click "Have Disk" and specify the location of the desired device driver. 10. The "Select a Device Driver" window will now list the device name of the driver. Click "Next" twice. 11. In the "Completing Add/Remove Device Driver Wizard" window, click "Finish".
